The mission of the Northwest Center for Assistive Technology is to foster the development of general knowledge regarding assistive technology and to promote the use of assistive technology for students with disabilities.

General Information

The Louisiana Assistive Technology Initiative (LATI) is a project of the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE). It was formed to provide leadership, professional development, and resources to local education agencies in the area of assistive technology. As part of the initiative, the LDE issued a request for applications to establish regional assistive technology centers. Districts in each region were eligible to apply. Currently, the Northwest Region represents the following districts and universities/colleges in Louisiana: Bienville, Bossier, Bossier Parish Community College, Caddo, Centenary College, Claiborne, DeSoto, Linwood Middle Charter, LSUS, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster.


The Assistive Technology Center for the Northwest is a project funded by the Louisiana Department of Education, IDEA Part B fund.
